O cancelamento deve ser solicitado quando o profissional não for mais exercer a profissão de Bibliotecário, quando estiver aposentado e em casos de falecimento.
Mesmo nos casos de trabalho voluntário, o profissional deverá estar em dia com suas obrigações no CRB-7 não caracterizando o cancelamento.
Durante a licença ou cancelamento, o Bibliotecário fica isento do pagamento da anuidade.

O Bibliotecário que estiver com o registro cancelado ou de licença, e continuar desempenhando as atividades pertinentes à profissão, estará em exercício ilegal, sujeito à penalidades previstas no artigo 40 da Lei 9.674/98, que vão desde multa de uma a cinquenta vezes o valor da anuidade, até a cassação do registro profissional. Através de denúncias recebidas e visitas das Bibliotecárias Fiscais, será possível identificar os profissionais que estiverem atuando ilegalmente, sem o devido registro, ou na condição de licença ou cancelados. Se você tem conhecimento de irregularidades, sejam de profissionais ou instituições que não possuem Bibliotecário, denuncie-as, para que tomemos as devidas providências.
